Hopefully CA comes back for another look at this cause if this was meant to be the big skills rework to address the criticism the game got it will be a pretty sad time. When high elves come in immortal empires the difference in trait value between high influence high elf generals and game 3 generals who are able to get gems like +3 charge and +5 weapon damage is going be even starked. Then lets not forgot all of the lord traits remain completely unfixed and severely nerfed from the Warhammer 2 variant. Lord Magistrates are going to need a lot more support buffs to ever be worth taking over a shugengan lord.

Lords like Boyars have zero skills beyond a single situational buff and feel as bad a a year 1 General of the Empire for how few skills they have. All 3 heroes also have access to 5 unique bonuses which give campaign/army/or battle buffs and buffs to other stats like HP. The ogres have a hunter with stonehorn mount that gives numerous buffs to sabre tooths and a unique missile ability, the fire belly has 3 unique spells on top of lore of fire, the butcher gives buffs to winds of magic and has a unique power reserve boosting ability. The astromancer has nothing beyond the two bound spells that come from the Wu Xing War compass mount. No other skills tree reworks were made despite game 3 heroes being equivalent to year 1 Warhammer 1 heroes, not at all at the level of design that heroes were being in the last year of Warhammer 2.įor comparison between Cathay heroes and ogres for example, the Cathay Alchemist has one short damage ability and one weak mount option. Certainly not enough to make them worth using over a shugengan lord.

Lord magistrates were the only generic lord with any changes and all that was was to allow them to give 3 single unit buffs at a time instead of 1 single unit buff at a time, and a very weak campaign buff option. In patch 1.3, the apparent "skills rework patch" the only things touch were a few legendary lord abilities, cultist summoning skills nerfed, the red line tier 7 buffs were reworked benefit, and replenishment was added as a skill option for demon lords. Most of the feedback was that other than the Ogre Kingdoms which had apparently been designed by the team that did Warhammer 2, most of the generic lords and heroes had boring uninspired skills trees compared to Warhammer 2 races. The feedback was that technology and skills were very underwhelming especially compared to Warhammer 2 where the lessons about what makes things interesting should have been learned. From the Total War blog on roadmap - "There has been a good deal of feedback about both the tech and skill trees, so we’re focusing on improving the impact and power of the technology trees first.įollowing up on the Tech Tree reworks in Update 1.2, we’ll begin digging into a variety of skill tree updates for the various characters and races in 1.3."
